Agriculture & Food Processing

The Dayton Region hosts many businesses along its vast supply chain that bring fresh food to restaurants, grocery stores and residential tables each day.

Global, multibillion-dollar businesses and family farms are all part of food processing and agribusiness in the Dayton Region. From the farmlands and research and development, national and global brands call the Dayton Region home.

The Buckeye State takes food and agribusiness seriously. Across Ohio, there are more than 13 million acres of farmland and over 10 million acres used to grow principal crops of corn, soybeans, wheat and hay. But the focus is much broader than growing and raising healthy food.

Growing the Ecosystem

The Dayton area is home to industry-leading firms that bring produce and food products to stores, restaurants and residential tables.

Plastilene opened its first U.S. facility in 2023, cutting the ribbon on a new research and development center in Washington Court House. The Sustainable Food Packaging Innovation Center focuses on the development of recyclable food packaging that will help food producers reduce their carbon footprint and environmental impact.

Golden Fresh Farms and BrightFarms offer greenhouse-grown produce year-round from greenhouses and Wapakoneta and Wilmington.

Abbott Laboratories offers breakthrough products that nourish bodies at every stage of life.

King’s Command Foods, LLC has delivered portion-controlled, quality foods to the foodservice and retail stores across the nation since the 1950s.

Classic Carriers, Inc. provides their customers with warehouse and just-in-time delivery of products for buyers in the 48 contiguous states. If it can be planted, grown or produced in the Dayton Region, it can be delivered anywhere in the world.

Plastilene began looking at the North American market 15 years ago. We had a clear vision, and took the time to find the right location. In Washington Court House, we’ve found a welcoming community and supportive partnerships that allow us to work with leaders in our industry to help Ohio’s food producers deliver fresh products in a sustainable way.
